While it is a couple of weeks away (18th June 2016), I thought that I would promote an event that popped up on my Twitter feed, which is a charity event but also encourages families to get out and about and explore the countryside.
‘A Day in the Dales’ is an event run by Heart Research UK, in partnership with the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority’s Three Peaks Project, to be held on 18 June. The day will raise money for the charity’s Helping Hearts activities and the maintenance of the Three Peaks paths.
There will be a Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge for serious hikers, a 15-mile walk through the Valleys of the Three Peaks for walkers and, for the first time, a 5k nature trail especially for families, which feels just about far enough to carry a toddler!
It is also hoped that there will be a field full of activities and stalls, which, along with the main events, sounds very exciting and means that there should be lots to do even if the little ones don’t fancy doing the walking!! I think that my favourites will be the Nature Demonstrations as well as the cake stands!!!
Hopefully we will be able to get over there and write up on how much we liked it!!
